Profiles: Jeff Dantowitz, James
Bastable, Michael Beauclerc
Who
is Michael Beauclerc? (Percussion
Virtutis)
As
a performer, Michael played in his first rock group at the age of twelve.
When he was fourteen Michael began touring provincially, and later internationally,
in several world-class drum corps and marching percussion ensembles.
During his years at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, Michael performed
with many groups of diverse genres. He was also the business director
and drummer for the contemporary rock group LOTUS, Rafter’s Pub’s
house band. After graduating, Michael was the composer and star performer
of the Junk Jammers, a Stomp-like percussion group at the CN Tower in
Toronto, Ontario, as well as the musical director and timbalito of Smooth…Sounds
of Santana, a ten-piece Santana tribute act.
Currently,
Michael performs with several Latin, jazz, and rock artists throughout
Ontario. These include the jazz quartet Felix and the Swing Cats, and
Canuck, a tribute to Canadian rock of the last four decades. Michael
and fellow Cambrian College music graduate Joel Alain and Jason Paquette
have recently begun performing as the original contemporary rock trio,
Gauche. Michael has also recorded with several artists, including Paul
McKay, and the Arrogant Worms. One last note, Michael is a Yamaha-sponsored
drummer. Awesome!
